To live here is to experience the privilege of the first line of the sea — a private dialogue with the horizon. That is why we call it Casa da Vista. Located along the coastal front of Vila Nova de Gaia, it rises where the Douro meets the Atlantic.
“Here, the ocean feels almost exclusively ours — a daily privilege where true luxury is space, silence, and an endless horizon.”
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Outdoor Premium Living
Right beside Afurada Marina, next to the Douro Estuary Nature Reserve and close to Gaia’s riverside promenade, the project was conceived to make the most of its exceptional setting. Exterior and interior merge into a continuous living experience.
The infinity pool mirrors the sea. The outdoor lounge extends the social areas towards the horizon. A generous dining space, sheltered for windier days, allows for year-round enjoyment, with the possibility of an outdoor kitchenette. The landscape design follows this fluidity, subtly returning indoors.
Almost every day of the year, sunsets can be enjoyed by the pool, around the fire pit, a setting created for moments shared with family and friends.
Architect
Vasco Vieira
Vasco Vieira is internationally recognized as one of Portugal’s most distinguished residential architects. Born in Johannesburg, he began designing houses as a child, already aware of his vocation. His award-winning and widely published work is defined by a strong connection between interior and exterior spaces.
For Vasco Vieira, architecture always begins with the site, the views, the sun exposure, the landscape, and evolves from imagining how it will be experienced by those who live there. Casa da Vista embodies this philosophy: a residence where boundaries dissolve and climate, comfort, surroundings, and lifestyle merge into a singular living experience.
